I’ve been running for over 20 years, luckily injury free for the most part. The only injury I had was a nasty bout with Plantar Fasciitis. Also known as a heel spur, it is not skeletal related but rather an inflammation (sometimes severe) of the fibrous material that forms the arch in your foot.
When I came down with plantar fasciitis I had to take 6 weeks off from running. For me that was an awfully long time not to run. When I did return, I began using orthotics from SofSole. Since then I have been running pain free. Well at least foot pain free. They are also available at Road Runner Sports.
