18 October 2008 - 17:56Lisa’s Half Marathon!!

Today Lisa ran her first half marathon the Greensboro Cannonball Run.  That’s 13.1 miles, 21  kilometers, 23,056 yards…you get the idea, its a long way.  She ran a great race – strong and smooth throughout – finishing in 2:23:45.  Congrats Lisa, I’m proud of you baby!

I am SO proud of Lisa! She is training to run the Canon Ball Half Marathon on 18-Oct.  Today she ran almost 9 miles!  The furthest she’s ever run…until her next long training run on 5-Oct.

19 July 2008 - 13:55Annual trek to Atlanta

For the last seven years Lisa & I have spent the 4th of July in Atlanta – running the Peachtree Road Race and spending time with Family.   This year was especially great since it was the first time we met the newest addition to the Yurtkuran family – Abi.  The 4th was packed!  Began with Lisa, Jeff, Eric & Erol running the Peachtree and wrapping up with a great time at the Braves game (Braves Won!), with plenty of eating and a few naps in between.  Here are the pictures from our trip…Enjoy.

23 May 2008 - 11:44Running in-sole

I’ve been running for over 20 years, luckily injury free for the most part.  The only injury I had was a nasty bout with Plantar Fasciitis.  Also known as a heel spur, it is not skeletal related but rather an inflammation (sometimes severe) of the fibrous material that forms the arch in your foot.

When I came down with plantar fasciitis I had to take 6 weeks off from running.  For me that was an awfully long time not to run.  When I did return, I began using orthotics from SofSole.  Since then I have been running pain free.  Well at least foot pain free.  They are also available at Road Runner Sports
